What colour is this dress?

The question which has taken Tumblr and therefore all of social media by storm this morning. 

What colour is this dress? 

My thoughts? Blue and black! 

However the fact of the matter is not all people are seeing the same colours, some are seeing blue and gold and others; white and gold. 

The question we've all been asking ourselves since? Am I going insane? 

Well fear not all those who see blue and black despite popular website Buzzfeed.com test results, indicating that 72% think it's white and gold. 

The dress is in actual fact blue and black.

Sorry to all the white and gold believers out there! The question to ask next, is why? We all know everyone's different and therefore so is our perception of colour, it's easy to see with teal or turquoise, debating whether it's green or blue. However in this case it has something to do with the angle the dress has been pictured at and the light around and upon the dress, which is changing our perceptions of the dress colour.

Until the scientists way in that's all the help I can give.
